So…. I wrote another drabble, but for Chapter 30 this time.
I don’t even knOW OKAY
There are certain things that happen to certain people for a certain reason. This is a basic fact of life. Harry knew this first hand.
Of course, Harry knew that he couldn’t control what did and didn’t happen. He was a young man, but he had had his fair share of traumatic experiences.
But when he saw Fitz in nothing but a skimpy tee and her knickers standing in his room, he was pleasantly surprised - and confused.
Granted, the last few days had been rough for the two of them; Harry knew Fitz was trying - well, she probably wasn’t trying anymore now that he had exposed their “relationship” to Zayn - but he just… couldn’t. He had tried and tried with all his might; but words had been said, and there was no going back.
So seeing Fitz before him with a conflicted look on her face made him wonder.
Was she finally seeing what was right in front of her? No, that probably wasn’t the right way to say it. Did she finally realize… how Harry felt?
Like really, truly felt?
So Harry stared at Fitz, and Fitz stared at Harry. Harry cocked his head at Fitz, and Fitz averted her gaze to the floor bashfully. Then, Harry looked at the open drawer behind her.
Then it hit him. No, not the shocking truth of Fitz’s intentions, that had hit a ways back.
What hit him was denial.
Complete and utter… heartbreak.
So as Harry stared at Fitz once again, seeing her try to fumble with her words nervously - because he knew she always did that when her mind was working at the speed of light - he gave up.
Simple as that.
And as Harry watched Fitz leave him alone in his room, walking back to her bedroom to… him, Harry felt his inner foundations crack bit by bit. He felt the gut-wrenching sorrow that was familiar with refusal. And he tried to block it out, he tried to put of a strong front, but he had exhausted all his efforts.
Well… maybe not all of his efforts. Because with him lay a sheet of paper with a phone number written in loopy script that could be the key to getting out of Fitz’ trap.
But the thing was, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted that.
